I remembered that I have Fink installed on my PowerBook around the same time that I decided I wanted to install GIMP. So, off I went with a source install, last Saturday. You may wonder why I decided to install from source. Well the original idea was of course to squeeze the maximum out of this machine. The second reason was because I wasn’t convinved it would work any other way. You see, Fink on 10.3 gets into horrible circular dependencies if you try to use the binary version. So it has to be built from 0.6.x source. So I’m up and running again and have a few of the GIMP dependencies installed . Now, aa-fucking-lib (aalib, just in case) won’t install because it depends on x11. Hmmm… is that the X11 I installed to run OpenOffice. Fuck knows! OpenOffice runs quite nicely with the X11 included with Panther, by the way.
Anyway, now we’re at; ‘Failed: no version info available for x11’ when trying to install x11…

Sorry about the swearing :)
