Ah it's grand.
Sure.

Next episode of the podcast is available from here now – I’ve decided to upgrade it to Beta, onwards to a Release Candidate :) The file is 1MB and I really do appreciate any comments, even if they are ‘just stop it’.

Here’s the second go at the podcast. It’s cut a bit short as there’s just too much going on at the moment – so I’ve missed out on the articles from The Sunday Business Post. If I go ahead with a regular version of this, I’d be planning to have it available from Sunday night rather than this late in the week i.e. most people would be getting it in iTunes or equivalent application on Monday morning. Anyway, the file is 1.5MB and I’d love to get more comments and suggestions (thanks for the comment on the last one Bernie).

I’ve put up a 1.1MB file with the podcast at http://tinyurl.com/2a4x6v – if you decide to have a listen, please be harsh – I’m doing it for a laugh and nothing too serious

When I got my Nokia E61i a couple of months back there was a media card supplied, this has a number of application that are automatically installed the first time you start the phone. Unfortunately, this was a second hand phone and I was getting an error: Unable to complete installation from memory card. to install the remaining applications, please go to Application Manager. Couldn’t figure out what the problem application was until I opened the AppManager and looked at what was coming up not installed and also had the memory card icon alongside it. There were a couple of applications including Reuter’s News. Couldn’t delete them in AppManager but I did open the card on my desktop and searched for Reuters. Sure enough, in the ‘private’ directory there was a sub-directory called ‘10202dce’. Made a backup of the directory and then deleted it from the card. Voilá! Restarting the phone went fine with no warning message.

Well I’m waiting for IRAS and HR to sort out between them what my tax position is so that I can get tax clearance and thus be allowed to leave the country. It’s a pain having to wait for this because it effectively puts a roadblock on my plans i.e. when to move out of my apartment and book a flight back to Ireland.

I’ve been packing up clothes here over the past few days. The cat picked this morning to curl up in the bag.

Just in case anyone is wondering; Lola, the cat, is heading off with C to her new place once I leave Singapore.

Earlier this week I was in The Straits (You can find Straits details under outlets, no direct link as the site is another annoying flash indulgence) near Far East Square to try out some food that will be served in another bar (There’s going to be a Beef & Guinness dish to watch out for). This time I was having a beer and sampling the regular bar menu. These are the mixed sausages which went really well with their Traveller’s Wheat Ale (the sausages are ordinary enough, but tasty. Solid performers rather than something exceptional but the lashings of gravy with them really lift the dish):

Probably the only blog-worthy news I’ve posted for a long while (if ever) is that I’ve left my job and I’m also going to be leaving Singapore (at the end of September). I’ll be returning to Ireland and once there deciding what to do after a period of respectful contemplation.

Courtesy of Mr. Kernan, here’s an Irish Short. Probably best if you have a vague idea of Irish but it’s still funny if you don’t understand a word (sub titles).
